Guild Charter

Colorful Metaphor Charter

Colorful Metaphor is a guild that is dedicated to serious endgame progression. We seek to encourage a fun environment while at the same time working our way through new content. We do require 75% attendance at raids and we ask that our raiders treat their preparations seriously. Having fun at the raids is encouraged, but when its time to buckle down and get things done for the sake of accomplishment it must be realized that this is just as important as the fun factor.

To that end, we have established the following guidelines for the guild. Consider this not only guidelines for the members, but also the officers’ promise to the members of this guild.

I. Keep it Simple

  • Casual players are welcome and encouraged, but we will endeavor to keep the guild as concise as possible when it comes to end game. Naturally we always want to let our guild members’ friends in, but at the end of the day if we have too many active raiders we dilute our effectiveness and more importantly, end up with unhappy raiders. So we will attempt to limit each class to a proper number of raiders which will change as our progression changes.

II. This is a Raiding Guild

  • Our goal is endgame progression. Alts, and alts of allies are always welcome for chatter in guildchat, but the main goal of the guild is to progress through raids. This is not a leveling guild. So if you place your alt in this guild we make no promises of available groups, of people running your alt through instances, or of materials/tips being ready for you when you ask. We promise a friendly atmosphere where people can gather and talk, where you may find others that are interested in levelling, but that the level 85 characters will be buzzing around farming mats, gold, or quests if not running instances or raiding.

III. We Will be Fair

  • No one gets a free ride. Everyone will be subject to the same rules. The Officers do not get first dibs on loot, nor do they get priority shuffling into the raids if their class is overpopulated. If a class is consistently over-populated with qualified raiders a raid rotation will be set upon. No one will be excluded, ignored, and all voices are important. However, in this fairness things such as prior attendance, availability, and level of commitment will also be considered. In other words, please do not disappear for 2 months and expect to come back and grab a spot the next raid day after you show up.

IV. Raid Times

  • The declared raiding window of this guild is from 8pm to 11pm Tuesday through Thursday.

V. Alts

  • As this is a raiding guild, gearing up ‘the guild’ is a concern so that we may progress onward. So in regards to getting loot and getting into raids, mains shall have priority over alts. If we need a spot filled and the only available raider is an alt they’ll be taken, but under the implied agreement that a main has priority on loot over an alt.

Again, this is not to slight the player’s contribution to the run and guild, but we have to focus our efforts of loot to progress in the game. You may change your main by talking to an officer outside of a raid, and if the change can be accommodated, we shall update ranks accordingly. Swapping between two characters frequently, however, is discouraged. Exceptions may be made at the raid leader’s discretion (before any loot has dropped) if a player is asked to bring an alt over their main for the sake of the raid.

VI. Open Door

  • Officers of the guild vow that we will be available for comments, questions, suggestions, or issues you may have. Feel free to talk to any officer or the Guild master if you feel that you have an issue you need to talk about. We cannot promise you will always like our solutions, but we will do everything we can to treat your concern seriously and attempt to resolve any issue that is within our power.

VII. Loot Policy

  • "We don't raid to get gear, we get gear to RAID!" is a motto that we live by. While it is well understood that getting gear is part of the fun of the game, and that everyone wants new purple shinnies, our goal is to reach and conquer end game content in a timely manner. Therefore, the loot policy is as follows:

  • Our loot system is EPGP. (Click on the link for the general description.) Our rules for EPGP will be summarized below, and the full text of our rules can be seen here. (Must be a member and registered to go to that part of the forum.)

Along with the EPGP idea mentioned at the Google site, we also include the following as part of our system:
    • a. Raid Attendance - Raiders who have 75% attendance over the last 4 weeks will be given first dibs over all others.

    • b. Armor Class - With the exception of the above rule, Armor Class will be utilized. That is, if a Healadin, Tree, and Priest are all rolling on the same cloth shoulders, and they all are at 75% or better attendance, the Priest will get the piece.
